Larry was just
48 yrs old when he was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer.
That was in August 2005, six months after marrying his wife Laura.
Next was surgery, then chemo and in April 2007, another tumor
was found in his pelvis. More chemo and now radiation prepared
him for a radical surgery in Boston to remove and treat the tumor.
This took Larry virtually 6 months to regroup from and unfortunately
to no avail. In July 2008, his pelvic tumor returned as he also
understood he had cancer lesions in his liver. He currently receives
maintenance chemo as more surgery or radiation is not an option.
To meet Larry, you wouldn't guess he is ill as he just looks like
a big guy with a buzz cut and head turning smile. He virtually
glows as he discusses plans for his tattoo, basement bar, and
upcoming motorcycle season. Larry is super social amongst his
family and friends and was happy to see his daughter graduate,
and one marry. He was pumped to make it to Sturgis with the guys
Aug. 2008. Though Larry deals from surgical and chemo side effects
daily, somehow, he manages to reach his hand out to others in
need. "This is my life now." "I have too much to
live for." "If it wasn't for my wife, I wouldn't be
here now." Larry is very open about discussing his illness
as he feels it may "help other people that are going through
cancer treatment."
